Sailor and Pilot are
littermates from Diva's second litter, and both are loved and owned by
Karen and Eric George of San Antonio, TX. When asked to give a
biography of their IMa Whippets, here is what they had to say...
"Our dogs are true opposites; our
yin and yang. Pilot's hobbies include, licking people excessively,
napping, snuggling, and lounging
around. Sailor's hobbies include chasing anything that
moves, antagonizing his brother, and protecting us from squirrels.
Sailor loves to chase squirrels. You can literally hear and see his
heart beat faster when he sees them out the window. He is never quite
fast enough to catch them because there are too many convenient trees
for them to run up, but that will never stop him from trying. Pilot will
stand next to Sailor looking at the same squirrel and his reaction is to
stretch and yawn. He will run with Sailor when we
let them out, but a hunter, he is not.
Sailor enjoys antagonizing Pilot with a chew toy by walking in circles
around him or staring at him until Pilot takes off chasing after him.
When we play fetch in the yard, unless we have only one outside at a
time, it goes something like this…Sailor chases toy;
Pilot chases Sailor; Sailor gets toy; Pilot tries to take toy; they run
around in circles around the yard fighting over it; and once they both
have a firm grasp they bring it to us together like a team.
Although we rarely feed them table scraps, Sailor and Pilot earn
their keep around our house by making sure no morsel of food stays on
the ground for more than a moment. When we are preparing a meal they
always hover around us waiting for any food to hit the floor, and
even if it is vegetables they eat it up, and then look up to see
what's coming next. They also love ice and will come running from
anywhere in the house when they hear the ice dispenser running.
They snuggle up together every night, often with one resting his head
or a paw on the other. This is when we knew we made the right
decision of getting both instead of just one. When we are in bed,
Sailor loves to touch us with his wet nose to get our attention. If
that doesn't work, then he starts making pathetic little groaning
whines. Our bed is just the right height where both of our guys will
rest their heads on our bed and look sad when they want something.
We seem to be well trained.
We
always enjoy the new silly things they do. They are so much fun and
very entertaining. They are also truly sweet dogs we are thankful to
have them in our lives." -- 10.2008
