Phoebe is co-owned and loved by Kathy Mittler of San Antonio, TX. In 2004, Phoebe finished her ASFA Field Championship and completed her Lure Courser of Merit (LCM) title the following year. At nearly seven years old, she has mostly retired to the couch and caretaking. Infinitely sweet but stately, Phoebe is a special Whippet cherished by many people. In 2009, Phoebe suffered a suspected spinal column injury while lure coursing in Hutto, Texas. Quick veterinary care helped to stabilize her condition, and she was sent back to San Antonio for further testing and case management. Details about Phoebe's condition and prognosis have been scarce, but in the second of two updates received from Kathy, Phoebe is reported to have regained use of her limbs and, while wobbly from time to time, has resumed regular life activities such as climbing stairs, playing in the yard and lounging on the couch with her canine family and human friends. No additional information has been shared. |
